Upload test payloads are discarded immediately and are not logged or stored. PacketWizard does not persist browsing history, unrelated cookies, or raw network payloads from this test. Standard server or CDN logs may still record your IP address, request route, timestamp, and request metadata.
FAQ
- What does an internet speed test measure?
- This test measures download and upload throughput, idle and loaded latency, jitter, and HTTP request reliability between your browser and PacketWizard's test infrastructure.
- What is the difference between download and upload speed?
- Download speed reflects how quickly data reaches your device. Upload speed reflects how quickly your device sends data outward. Video calls, cloud backups, and remote work often depend on upload performance.
- Why is latency important?
- Latency is the round-trip time for a request. Lower latency improves voice calls, gaming, and interactive applications even when download speed is high.
- Does this test measure true packet loss?
- No. Browsers cannot perform ICMP packet-loss tests. PacketWizard reports HTTP reliability and request loss based on timed lightweight HTTP requests instead.
- Why do speed test results vary?
- Wi-Fi conditions, VPN use, device load, browser limits, CDN routing, and server region can all change results. Ethernet tests at different times provide the most consistent comparison.
- How much speed do common activities need?
- General browsing often works well below 25 Mbps download. HD streaming typically needs 5–25 Mbps, 4K streaming often needs 25 Mbps or more, and stable video calls benefit from low latency and at least a few Mbps of upload.
